We recently stayed four nights at Jo and Frank's lovely bed and breakfast. Our room was at the back of the house (top floor) looking out toward Loughrigg. The B&B is in a quiet location with easy access to shops, pubs & resturants. Frank & Jo are very friendly, helpful and always made time to chat.
The house has fabulous views. We enjoyed spending late afternoons on the terrace in the back garden. The terrace had plenty of places to sit & the patio furniture had parasols which were very handy - the weather was superb.
The room and ensuite (lovely toiletries) are very well equipped and immaculately clean.
There is plenty of choice for breakfast. We can highly recommend the tasty full breakfast (cooked to order & on hot plates too); a great start to a day's walking on the fells.
We were delighted with our choice of B&B & will return.

We’ve recently returned from the most wonderful weekend in Ambleside, staying at Brantholme B&B – and what a fantastic experience it was!
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the amazing hosts, Frank and Jo, who made us feel right at home. The accommodation was absolutely spotless, beautifully kept, and incredibly comfortable – it’s clear how much care and attention they put into every detail.
Breakfast each morning was a real highlight – delicious, freshly prepared, and set us up perfectly for the day ahead. The location is also ideal – peaceful, scenic, and just a short stroll into the heart of Ambleside.
Honestly, we couldn’t fault a single thing. Everything was just perfect, and we felt so well looked after throughout our stay.
We’ll 100% be returning – we loved it that much!

We have just stayed two nights in Jo and Franks beautiful bed and breakfast.
The house has wonderful views, lovely gardens including a hot tub that is available to use. There is also on site parking.
The rooms are spacious, very well decorated and immaculately clean with both bath and shower en-suite.
The beds are so comfortable.
There is plenty of choice for breakfast and I can highly recommend the full breakfast which is very tasty and a great starter to a day in the Lakes.
No need to look any further if you want to stay in Ambleside and we will definately return

We recently stayed at Brantholme in Ambleside, UK and we cannot say enough about how great this place is. The room was lovely, filled with everything you need, plus lots of special touches. Jo, one of the owners, went out of her way to make us feel at home. Brantholme is family owned and their pride in ownership is reflected in the service and amenities. The location is perfect. It is just a couple of blocks from the center of town, restaurants, and shops. The garden out back overlooks a green space that is also quite nice. Parking is available on site. We would definitely want to stay here again.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Brantholme, Jo and Frank couldn't have been more perfect hosts, everything was catered for, the breakfasts were fantastic, loads of choice and very well presented and cooked. Such attention to detail throughout the whole house. Our ground floor room was spacious, the bathroom was immaculate, comfy large bed and our own patio outside with tremendous views every morning. Situated near the park and fields, so very quiet at night, we had the best sleep. Going out at night and it's literally a 5 minute walk and you are in the centre of town, with all the amenities you need. We would recommend Matthews Bistro, but book beforehand. Really should have tried the hot tub, missed out on a treat there, it looked stunning, overlooking the hills. Obviously we were sad to leave, and will definitely be coming back longer for our next break! If you are thinking of booking, what are you waiting for?

We stayed for a couple of nights in Aug 26. Welcoming, fastidiously clean, comfortable beds, great breakfast.
Travelling on two motorbikes we are always looking for private car parking - and this place was just the job. Located in town but on a sleepy back street over looking the fells.
It’s the attention to detail which makes this place perfect - ice maker, mini AC units by the bed, garden chairs, fridge in the room, lovely fluffy towels, well placed socket for the hair dryer.
Simply the nicest B & B we’ve stayed at in a very long time.
We’ll certainly be back !!

Gorgeous place run by Jo and Frank who can’t do enough for you! Lovely clean rooms, really tasty fresh breakfasts and brilliant location to explore Ambleside without having to drive. Jo and Frank welcomed us and our dog with open arms and really helped to make our stay special. Jo provided coffee and biscuits on our arrival which was a lovely touch. They provided us with lots of recommendations on places to visit, local walks and restaurants. Brilliant place to take your dog, they leave towels at the back door to wipe off muddy paws. As dogs aren’t allowed in the dining room they brought our breakfast up to our room for us which was lovely. The room was spacious and had the added bonus of a bath and a shower, lovely to have a long hot soak after a day of hiking and exploring. The back door has night time access using your room key so no need to worry about getting back for a certain time. Would 100% recommend and we will be back. Stunning place and really lovely people!

Well I think we are going to call this wonderful guest house 'Yet Again' because yet again we came here a few days ago and yet again it was as fantastic as it always is and yet again Joe and Frank are the most lovely welcoming hosts you would ever hope to meet.
The rooms are of a very high standard and the breakfast buffet and cooked items of choice on the menu are yet again at the top.
The hot tub was a beautiful relaxing experience.
SO Joe and Frank you have done it yet again and we cant wait to come back yet again to your gorgeous abode. :) :) :) :)

We have just stayed for two nights at this wonderful B&B.
This is our fifth or sixth stay & every stay is just as good as the last.
Jo & Frank could not make you feel more comfortable from arriving to leaving. We have stayed in three different rooms over the past two years and they are always spotlessly clean, well decorated, nicely furnished and warm in cold weather.
The breakfast is always extremely good & certainly sets you up for a day on the fells.
The private parking on site is a definite bonus.
Obviously we will be returning.

This is the second time we have stayed for a long weekend at Brantholme. A little over a hundred yards away from the heart of Ambleside town centre, yet it feels a mile away from the busy streets and shops, Brantholme is the perfect place for a quiet get away. With good sized rooms which are clean and well presented, views of the neaby fells, free off-road parking, great breakfast and amazing hosts, you will struggle to find a better B&B in Ambleside. Can't wait for our next stay.

Excellent bed and breakfast. 5 min walk to centre of Ambleside where you can get a bus to nearly anywhere in the lakes. So you can leave your car at the B & B .
The owners are really friendly and obliging. We were in room 3 which had a fabulous view out the window and was very spacious and beautifully decorated.
The breakfast was cooked to order so was always hot. We were lucky with the weather any rain was overnight. Definitely recommend this B & B.

The entire property is clean and well kept. The owners Jo and Frank take pride in everything they do at the Bed and Breakfast from first welcoming you at check in to wishing you safe travels on check out. The breakfast was a hearty English breakfast with good portion and Jo is keen to make sure you have everything you need. They certainly made me feel like I was at home. I will be making another trip out to the Lake District soon and will most definitely be staying with them again!

This is the second time I have stayed at Brantholme, and would definitely go back again. Fabulous, comfortable rooms, close to Ambleside and the lake and Jo and Frank are top class hosts. Breakfast is top notch, would highly recommend. You can also book the hot tub as an extra which is a relaxing addition to my quick getaway and well worth paying the extra for. Highly recommend

Just had the most amazing weekend away here! Fantastic breakfast, incredibly room and the views are just Phenomenal, I would fully recommend this place to anyone wanting a romantic getaway to the lakes. The hot tub just made it even more magical! So much to do. Frank and Jo gave some amazing recommendations of Fantastic activities and they didn't disappoint.

This is our second visit to this wonderful B&B and already looking forward to visiting again in the future. A stones throw from the town centre and wonderful breakfast. Jo and Frank are so welcoming and friendly. Both rooms we’ve had are very nicely decorated and were spacious. Brilliant tea and coffee making facilities restocked daily and a mini fridge was really handy.

Central , lovely clean, friendly & free parking. Jan, owner with Frank was exceptional. She took the time to tell us which pubs, restaurants & what to see while we stayed the weekend. If you want to unwind, relax this place is a must. From the Hot tub with spectacular views. This place is spotless bright and just a pleasure to be at. The rooms are gorgeous and breakfast will beat a 5 Star hotels offerings! From fresh Fruit to full English. We will certainly be back again soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We booked a nights stay with Frank and Jo in the lovely Brantholme house.
They were both so welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms, and house were so clean and spacious, and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast the following morning.
Would highly recommend staying with them.

日本でも長くお仕事されていたというジョーさんとフランクさんが、細部にまでこだわって経営していらっしゃるB＆Bで、お話するのも楽しかったです。お部屋は広くて清潔、内装もおしゃれでした。窓からの景色がすばらしかったので、思ったよりも長く室内で過ごしました。朝食もとてもおいしかったです。敷地内の駐車場、レストランやお店のあるアンブルサイドの中心部までは歩いてすぐというのも便利でした。ぜひ再訪したいです。
This B&B is run with great attention to detail by Jo and Frank, with long-time work experience in Japan. It was lovely to chat with them! The room was spacious, spotless and stylishly decorated. The view from the window was fantastic, so we stayed indoors for longer than expected. Breakfast was also delicious. Parking space on-site was convenient, and it's only a few minutes' walk to the centre of Ambleside with its restaurants and shops. What's not to like? We would definitely love to return.

A good choice for breakfast that kept you going way after lunch.
The room was clean and tidy with wonderful views of the hills out back.

Great 3 day break, weather very hot, hosts were welcoming , Jo very bubbly and Frank did a very filling English breakfast, room very roomy , massive bed, had air conditioning and a fridge which came in very useful. Would definitely return and recommend to family and friends.
